ACC Debates Timeline 2008


Debates Timeline
  • Primary Election - September 2, 2008
  • Primary Early Balloting begins July 31
  • Primary Debates - Democratic and Republican - July 15, 2008
  • General Election - November 7, 2008
  • General Election Debate - September 15, 2008
  • Early balloting begins October 2
  • Pre-Meeting with CCEC TBA
Primary Election - September 2, 2008
    • July 31: Primary Early Balloting begins
    • June 23-July 30: Conduct Primary Debates
    • By May 1: Submit Primary Debate schedule to CCEC
    • By May 1: Submit Moderator name to CCEC
    • By June 5: CCEC will provide Primary Candidate info to ATIC
    • At least 3 week before debate: Implement Primary Publicity Plan
    • June 5-23: First written notice (with RSVP form) sent to candidates
    • By June 24: Second notice sent to candidates (at least 2 weeks before Primary)
    • June 9-23: ATIC will provide copy of notice and proof of candidate receipt of notice
    • Immediatly: Notify CCEC when ATIC is informed that a candidate will not or fails to attend debate
    • At least 5 business days before debate: ATIC provides list of participating candidates and moderator
    • When participating candidate notifies ATIC they are unable to attend ATIC will direct candidate to request exemption from CCEC
      General Election - November 7
        • October 2: Early balloting begins
        • September 15- Oct 1: Conduct General Election Debate
        • By June 2: Submit General Election Debate schedule to CCEC
        • By June 2: Submit Moderator name to CCEC
        • By Sept. 3: CCEC will provide General Election Candidate info to ATIC
        • At least 3 week before debate: Implement General Election Publicity Plan
        • Sept. 3-16: First written notice (with RSVP form) sent to candidates
        • At least 2 weeks before debate: Second notice sent to candidates
        • Sept: 7-15: ATIC will provide copy of notice and proof of candidate receipt of notice
        • Immediatly: Notify CCEC when ATIC is informed that a candidate will not or fails to attend debate
        • At least 5 days before debate: ATIC provides list of participating candidates and moderator
        • When participating candidate notifies ATIC they are unable to attend ATIC will direct candidate to request exemption from CCEC
        By November 17: Post Debate Review and Analysis
